Master´s degree study programs

Biomedical and clinical technology – the two-year Master Program

The interdisciplinary master program Biomedical and Clinical Technology is continual educational program on similar bachelor program. This program has three educational branches:

  • Biomedical Engineering (offered in English for self-funding students)
  • Instruments and Methods for Biomedicine (offered only in English for self-funding students)
  • Systematic Integration of Processes in Health Service (offered in English for self-funding students)

Application for study in the two-years follow-up full-time Master´s degree study programme Biomedical and clinical technology are accepted by 31st March 2018.

Condition for admission to study in a full-time two-year follow-up Master´s degree study programme "Biomedical and Clinical Technology" in English for the 2018/2019 academic year

For the study graduates of relative bachelor branches are accepted – especially with technical, scientific and economically intent on – all public and private universities. Two advised master educational branches are unlikely shaped to comply with wide spectrum of bachelors.

The branch "Biomedical Engineering" offered in English has to specializations "Medical Instrumentation" and "Medical Imaging Instrumentation".

The graduates will obtain the overview of biomedical and clinical technology in compliance with the current development of this area. In medical establishments, they will be able to operate, check and maintain diagnostic and therapeutic devices and their software, including assistance to the doctors during examination of the patients. They will be able to arrange activities connected with keeping the records and operation of medical devices. Due to their ability to participate in development and research activities especially of the experimental nature, they will be able to find a job with institutions dealing with development, production, sale and servicing of medical devices or programming of diagnostic and therapeutic devices and methods designed for healthcare industry. The study branch is accredited by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and after completion of studies the graduates obtain the certificate of professional qualification to practice the profession of a Biomedical engineer pursuant to sec. 27 of Act N. 96/2004 Coll..

The branch "Instruments and Methods for Biomedicine" (IMBM) is a 2-year Master’s study program focusing on natural and life sciences, engineering and healthcare. IMBM is a multidisciplinary program with emphasis on novel advanced methods and technology and their applications to biology and medicine. It is suitable for graduates from bachelor’s program in biomedicine as well as other fields provided the applicant is eager to expand her/his expertise in different areas. Due to the high multidisciplinarity of the program, graduates of this program will find employment in progressive bio/technological and pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, companies developing devices, technologies and products for biological and clinical laboratories. IMBM also provides an ideal foundation for doctoral studies and academic career. We place a great emphasis on individual study and work of students. Therefore the student will carry out a significant piece of research that will result in a diploma thesis. In the first year, each student will choose a research topic from the wide portfolio offered by academic staff of the faculty and experts from collaborating institutions both in the Czech Republic and abroad. For more information, see the IMBM flyer below.

The branch "Systematic Integration of Processes in Health Service" is aimed at preparation of engineers for the organizationally-technical work in hospitals, hygienic stations, commercial sphere etc. Students of this branch will gain theoretical knowledge as well as practical experience not only in the technical, or more precisely the economic branches, but in necessary extent also in biology and medicine.  This allows the graduates to communicate with both doctors and other medical staff. Simultaneously, the graduates are educated in economic, managerial, engineering and medical spheres to the same extent. They have all the knowledge necessary for mutual coordination and management of these areas in hospitals and other medical establishments.

Qualification readiness and measure of professional adaptability for conditions and requirements of praxis

A graduate student will receive deep theoretical and practical knowledge related to research, manufacturing, operation and maintenance of medical technique mainly within medical institution. With respect to broad study fundamentals he/she will be able to apply in all areas utilizing medical technique.

Study organization framework

The study is suggested for two years, finalized by elaborating of master thesis, defending the thesis and passing master Fnal state examination. It is a university education which is a part of so called structured undergraduate study (after the Bologna declaration).

Final State Examination

Topics for Final State Examination for master study for srtudy program Biomedical and Clinical Technology are are constituted as a minimum theoretical and practical knowledge for sucessfull realisation of graduates in praxis. The topics and individual items are derived from subjects of the study branch. A students selects topics from a given list of topics.

For study branch "Biomedical Engineering" two topics are mandatory.

The branch "Instruments and Methods for Biomedicine" (IMBM) all topics are mandatory.

For study branch "Systematic Integration of Processes in Health Service" all topics are mandatory.

It is strongly recomended to consult the selection of topics with his/her tutor for master thesis. The topics should correspond with the orientation of the batchelor thesis. During the Final state examination questions from the topics will be asked. Questions can be related to the thema of the master thesis as well. The questions are asked by the Final state examination commitee. The head of the commitee can deternmine other person to ask question. The student answers immediately, without any written preparation.

The main topics for branch "Biomedical Engineering (CEMACUBE)" are
