ZAMBIA IS INTERESTED IN THE EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL TRAINING SYSTEM DEVELOPED AT FBME FOR BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERS
On October 24, 2025, a delegation from Zambia visited FBME at CTU, initiated and prepared in connection with previous activities of CHTI, z.s. The delegation consisted mainly of representatives of the Ministry of Health, led by Her Excellency Mrs. Joma T. Simuyi, and representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Planning of Zambia. In addition, the delegation included representatives of hospitals.
The event consisted of three parts. The first part concerned the description of the current state and experience with the education of biomedical engineers at universities in the Czech Republic, as well as lifelong learning in these professions. Furthermore, the basic characteristics of specialized courses for biomedical technicians and engineers from Zambia at three levels were presented, including experience at one of these levels. At the end of this part, the ongoing cooperation between professional society and association in both countries that bring together biomedical technicians and engineers, i.e., CSBMEMI CMA JEP and BEAZ, was mentioned. This first part was presented by the Vice-Dean for Development and External Relations, Assoc. Prof. Jiří Hozman, Ph.D.
The second part concerned experiences with the introduction of biomedical engineering studies in Cambodia, presented by the Vice-Dean for Foreign Relations and PR, Prof. Karel Roubík, Ph.D. The above presentations were followed by an extensive discussion.
The third part involved a tour of selected faculty laboratories, in which the two aforementioned FBME vice-deans participated.
