FBMI GRADUATE WINS PRESTIGIOUS HERMANN NEUHAUS AWARD
The Max Planck Society has awarded Dr. Markéta Icha Kubánková, a graduate of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the CTU, the Hermann Neuhaus Prize.
She is a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light and the Max Planck-Institut für Physik und Medizin.
The prize, worth €25,000, is awarded to outstanding postdoctoral fellows and research group leaders who are conducting research with potential application at the Max Planck Institute.
Dr. Icha Kubánková investigates whether and how the physical properties of cells in human blood or tissue change during disease. She intends to use the findings for diagnostic purposes. The research is carried out in close cooperation with Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Universitätsklinikum Erlangen within the newly established MPZPM research centre in Erlangen.
Markéta was also the first to receive the FBMI Alumni Award.
