On May 14, 2019, students of the study branch Biomedical Technician attended a lecture given by a leading expert from the USA in the field of thermal therapy, Professor Paul Stauffer, director of thermal oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, USA. The lecture was called “Applications of Electromagnetic Energy In Thermal Therapy for Cancer ” and it was in English and part of the subject Medical devices and equipment II (therapeutic technology). Students were introduced to the principle of cancer treatment with the use of thermal therapy and its advantages when given in combination with radiotherapy and chemotherapy. It was again one of very useful events for Biomedical Technician students strengthening both professional and language skills. Events like this can take place thanks to a long-term scientific cooperation of scientists from the Department of Biomedical Technology. In this case, it is thanks to cooperation of doc. Ing. David Vrba, Ph.D. and doc. Dr.-Ing. Jan Vrba, M.Sc., with prestigious foreign workplaces.
