FBME’S BIOMECHANICS AND ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGIES RESEARCH GROUP PRESENTED ITS EXPERIMENT PREPARED FOR THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION
At a press conference held on 8 June at the Prague Planetarium, the Prime Minister announced that future Czech astronaut Aleš Svoboda is scheduled to travel to the International Space Station (ISS) in the second half of 2027.
The event was also attended by a scientific team from the Department of Healthcare Disciplines and Population Protection at FBME, which presented its research experiment (https://astromowe.eu/) focused on monitoring astronauts’ muscle activity and movement aboard the ISS. The project is one of thirteen experiments selected through a multi-stage evaluation process.
In addition, the research team is collaborating with institutions across the Czech Republic on the preparation of further experiments investigating the effects of the space environment on the human body.
